TAXATION OFFICER
Mr R. C. Sanders Retires More than 30 years’ service with the Inland Revenue Department ended on Wednesday for the second assistant district commissioner in Christchurch, Mr R. C. L. Sanders. Mr Sanders began his working career with the Post Office in December, 1925, at Christchurch and stayed with it for eight years. He transferred to the Inland Revenue Department in 1933 after the introduction of the employment tax as an emergency measure during the depression. Mr Sanders was stationed in Wellington until 1945 when district taxation offices were opened throughout New Zealand. A large portion of his work in Christchurch brought him in contact with public accounting firms and the chairman of the Public Accountants’ Committee (Mr G. Hickford) was among those who attended his farewell function this week. Mr Sanders will be succeeded by the senior taxation assessor at Wanganui, Mr J. M. Box.
