Clarke Fails In Attempt
(N.Z. PA.-Reuter—Copyright ) MELBOURNE. The Australian runner, Ron Clarke, failed in an attempt last night to break the world 5000 metres record held by Kipchonge Keino, of Kenya, But he set an Australian open record by 2.4 sec, covering the distance in 13min 28.8 sec. He was 4.6 sec outside the world record.
