Man In A Hurry

The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk) lived up to his description of a “young man in a hurry” today, on the second day of a preelection campaign visit to Auckland.
In a day packed with crowded interviews and discussions with party officials and supporters, he inspected flood damage at Whitford with local Labour members of Parliament, talked to farmers about their problems,
chatted with workers on construction jobs, made a 45-minute flight over Auckland, met some old family friends, and finally attended a selection meeting for the Labour Party candidates for the North Shore and Waitemata electorates.
On his flight over Auckland he was accompanied by Mr D. Simpson, planning officer of the Auckland Regional Authority, who pointed out the line of proposed motorways and future expansion schemes.
