CHEQUER BOARD AUCKLAND PICK

AUCKLAND. The clash between the outstanding four-year-olds, Chequer Board and Lone-

some Valley, in the Wairakei Handicap will be a major attraction on the second night of the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting at Alexandra Park Raceway tonight.

The St. Andrews Free-for-all for trotters is also arousing widespread interest. Both races will be started with the mobile barrier.

The Wairakei Handicap is the second leg of the T.A.B. double. Chequer Board and Lonesome Valley apart, there are some good pacers i>n the field. Caught Napping. Superior Chief, Willycan and Scotch Bomb are all solid stayers with ability.

There is an even field in the Alexandra Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double. The Smokeover-Golcourt-Anarca Direct bracket will probably be the favourite. The weather continues fine and the track will be fast. Selections:
