Some Realise Twice Value

AUCKLAND, Feb. 11
New Zealand coins still in circulation fetched more than double their face value at an auction in Auckland today. Selections of 14 New Zealand florins dating between 1933 and 1963 sold for £3. More than 25 florins brought £4 each.
Shillings were in demand at up to 30s. A collection of 12 sixpences minted between 1934 and 1945 were sold for 15s and 21 threepences fetched 255.
A set of 12 pennies and halfpennies sold at 10s and 40 halfcrowns, now out of circulation, fetched £9. A 1935 Waitangi crown with minor scratches was passed when bidding stopped at £33.
