TALIC WINS AGAIN
Best Of The Youngsters Talic and Agrippa, the two most strongly-backed runners dominated the finish of the Kowhai Handicap, the race for two-year-olds at Riccarton yesterday. I When they met in the Middle J Park Plate on Saturday Take i won by a length from Arippa. They filled the same positions yesterday, and this time Take won by a length from Agrippa, length. Tailic has now won three races for Mr W. H. WUffiamson from J. R. Shaw's Riccarton stable. His seasoned condition again stood to him for the six furlongs test yesterday. He had mastered that distance in winning at Wingatui in December, but some of his fancied rivals yesterday had notraced before over six furlongs. Agrippa found the early speed to be in the leading group from the start. Agrippa, which was never far behind the leading line, made a determined bid to draw level inside the furlong, but Talic found a little bit extra close to the post, and won going away by three-quarters of a length. The race produced a spectacular finish for third. Next Please, one of the tatlendere until very late in the race, just missed third behind Uanston Roman General, Fair Gap, and Gay Doctor were almost in lane with Next Please. Our Leigh, the third favourite, tired to eighth after disputing the lead to the-straight.
