TENDER IN TOW
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 8. The naval diving tender Manawanui berthed at Devonport at 8.20 p,m. today after being towed with its engine out of order from the Hauraki Gulf by its sister ship, the Arataki. The Manawanui’s one diesel engine failed at 5.30 a.m. on Sunday while she was engaged in training navy divers in the gulf near Whitianga. The naval fleet auxiliary Arataki left Devonport on Monday night to tow the crippled tender home. The Manawanui’s commander, Lieutenant-Com-mander T. H. Wickman, said it was not known what had caused the engine failure.
