160 LAID OFF
Fewer Lambs Offering Three large freezing-works in Canterbury laid off about ■ 160 men at the end of last! week, because of fewer! lambs coming forward. The Canterbury Frozen | Meat Company put off about: 50 men at both its Fairfield and Pareora works. There was no change at its Belfast works. The New Zealand Refrigerating Company. Ltd., laid off about 60 men at its Islington works. A C.F.M. executive yesterday said that because of an abundance of feed farmers were not bringing their stock forward as freely as they might
