APPEAL FOR BILLETS
Gymnasts From Denmark An appeal for billets for the Danish gymnastic team, which may return to Christchurch next month, was made by the Danish Consul (Mr P. J. Skellerup) yesterday. He said that the team—l 4 girls and 14 young men—would probably be in Christchurch for the week-end of March 2527. Mr Skellerup said it was hoped that Christchurch could extend some real New Zealand hospitality to these visitors, so that they might take back to Denmark a better knowledge of the country’s way of life. All the gymnasts had some knowledge of English. Several offers to provide accommodation in private homes have already been received. Mr Skellerup asked that anyone else interested in billeting one of the gymnasts should write to the Danish Consulate, P.O. Box 19558, Christchurch.
Truck On Fire St. Albans firemen answered a call to a truck on fire in Papanui road at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. The truck, owned by the Rapid Despatch Company, Ltd., was slightly damaged.
