Bus Mirrors

Sir, —About six months ago I read in your paper that the Christchurch Transport Board had decided to use large mirrors on its buses. The mirrors have not yet appeared and 1 cannot see how it could take six months to import them from the United Kingdom. I agree with Mr R. H. Stillwell that the larger mirrors give clearer vision to the driver and so are necessary in the interests of public safety, I am, etc., INTERESTED.

January 28, 1966. [The general manager of the Christchurch Transport Board (Mr J. F. Fardel!) replies: “If the writer of this letter has had experience of importing he would know that six months is not unusual to satisfy overseas orders. In any case, new mirrors are now being fitted.”]
