VERDICT OF GUILTY
Helped To Run Brothel A strong recommendation to mercy was made by an allmale jury in the Supreme Court yesterday in finding a young Rarotongan woman guilty on a charge of assisting in the management of a brothel. The accused, Malina Samuels, aged 20, a waitress, stood trial before Mr Justice Wilson as a result of a police visit on November 6 last to the flat she was renting at 61 Champion street, St Albans. The Crown alleged the flat was being used for prostitution.
Samuela, defended by Mr R. G. Blunt pleaded not guilty, but after an hour’s retirement the jury returned with a verdict of guilty.
She was remanded in custody to Friday for sentence. Mr N. W. Williamson appeared for the Crown.
