Copper In Cables
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 7. The high price of copper for use in power cables is causing the Auckland Electric Power Board concern. The chairman (Mr A. W. Gooder) said today that consideration was being given to the use of aluminium cables which are much cheaper. The world price of copper has climbed steadily over the last year and has been accelerated by the Rhodesian crisis jeopardising Zambian production.
