PROPOSAL WELCOMED

Eradicating Brucellosis

The Christchurch Milk Board will support any scheme aimed at eradicating brucellosis in dairy and beef cattle. The board welcomed a proposal by Dr. C. S. M. Hopkirk, of Lincoln College, that such a scheme be implemented. Dr. Hopkirk, who is research officer in the veterinary department at Lincoln College, made the suggestion at the annual conference of the New Zealand Society of Animal Production. The milk board chairman (Mr H. E. Denton) said members would recall that the board some years ago had advocated a national scheme to eradicate brucellosis from all herds.

“It is pleasing to note that support for this idea is now being put forward by Dr. Hopkirk,” he said.
