Uncertain Opening With Less Active Market
Trading started the week uncertainly on a less active market yesterday, rises lagging behind falls in both the Australian and New Zealand lists. Key New Zealand stocks were steady, but overseas leaders were easier.
Rights featured in trading. Rex Aviation rights, first sold on Friday, advanced 6d to 3s. Bank of New South Wales New Zealand register rights moved up 3d to 20s and the Australian rights came into line with a 6d rise. Auckland Gas firmed 5d to 7s 3d and Enzlon recovered Id to 7d.
B.H.P. made the only other gain in the overseas list with a 6d rise to 43s 3d. National Mortgage lost 7d to 12s in Dunedin sales and ground was also lost by G. J. Coles, L. J. Hooker, Woolworths and Broken Hill South.
