LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
(1) Letters sent to the Editor for printing should preferably be typed, otherwise they must be written in ink on one side of the paper only, A legible signature and full address are required whether these are to be published or not. A P.O. box number is not a sufficient address. (2) Writers must say clearly whether or not their letters are being or have been sent to other papers. (3) The Editor cannot return or keep any letter which for any reason is unsuitable for printing; nor can he acknowledge unsuitable letters although this will be done where it seems to be needful, or enter into any correspondence <4) Letters must not be of more than 150 words.

and in advanced cases should be treated as such, we would do well to remember that it is avoidable. Though a man may not be responsible for his last drink, he was certainly responsible for his first. No disease germ was ever powerful enough to force a man to take his first drink. It would be a good thing for parents and others to remember this when they encourage young folk to join them in a drink. The road to alcoholism is treacherous and the further you go the steeper it gets. H drunkenness were treated by the courts as being the crime that it is, the country would have far less to pay out eventually in medical care, etc.—‘Yours, etc. A MOTHER. February 7, 1966.
