Paid £300 In Error

(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON. An error of £3OO 15s was made in the payout of a dividend at Matamata on Saturday. Although appeals were made over the course broadcast system for the overpaid amount to be returned, the money had not been paid back by late yesterday afternoon. After the Matamata Cup, which was won by No. 5 Dark Intrigue and paid £25 4$ for a win, a man presented three £5 win tickets and was paid £355.

The clerk later discovered that the tickets were for No. 5 On Safari, winner of the fourth race, the Balcarres Handicap, which paid only £5 3s for a win.
