Singer’s Farewell

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 6. Wellington concertgoers gasped last night when beautiful Kiri Te Kanawa appeared on the stage at the Town Hall to say “Goodbye and thank you” to Wellington audiences. The outstanding Auck-land-trained Maori singer who will leave New Zealand on Tuesday to continue her career was startlingly beautiful and in tremendous voice. The Town Hall was packed with one of the most enthusiastic concert crowds to assemble in Wellington. When she appeared on stage the audience broke into vociferous applause. Each of her song-sets was similarly received.
