BLAST IN BAR

Mine Left (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SAIGON, February 6. A Viet Cong calmly walked into a crowded South Vietnam bar last night and planted a grenade and mine which exploded and killed seven people, including two American soldiers, United Press International reported. The incident occurred at Vinh Long. 70 miles southwest of Saigon. An American military spokesman said six Americans and 12 Vietnamese were wounded in the blasts. The incident occurred while the U.S. Ist Cavalry Division and task force of American Marines pushed westward from the coast—about 300 miles north-east of Saigon—in the biggest campaign of the Vietnam war. U.S. navy planes from the carriers Ranger and Kitty Hawk flew two hunter-killer missions over North Vietnam on Friday.
