Disenchanted Nurse Aid

Sir. —Eight weeks ago I returned from Australia, which I found a lovely continent. New Zealand has reached the “lowest ebb” in my estimation. Since my return from Australia I have worked as a nurse aid and as a domestic. During those eight weeks I met none of the warm-hearted ways of the Australians. It does not surprise me that this country is short of both nurse aids and domestics. The New Zealander has no idea how to treat people. I served in the Second World War on the home front—l was too young to go overseas. I would not do so again. New Zealand is not worth defending.—Yours, etc.,
