RACING Golden Glen In Line For Win At Gore

"The Press" Special Service INVERCARGILL. Calden Clen. Cassbridge and Calden Baa have advanced in favaur Tar the Core Racing Club Handicap, the first race of the Cor.s T.A.B. double today, with the scratching yesterday of Tundra. Lisa, which ran an attractive final trial at Wingatui on Thursday, is fancied in the Croydon Handicap, the second leg of the double. The track is In firm order, but rain Is threatening. Taking a line through Trentnam form, Golden Glen should win the Gore Racing Club Handicap. At his last start. Golden Glen ran third to Cassarook and Court Belle in the Invercargill Gold Cup, without much in his favour over the closing stages. Both Court BeUe and Cassarook performed well in their later outings at Trentham, Court Belle winning the Summer Handicap (lim), in which Cassarook ran third. Cassbridge was placed over a mUe and a quarter at Vincent last month and looked well at Gore during the week. He could be the one to topple the favouritles. Although approaching the veteran stage. Beginner’s Luck raced well enough on the Southland holiday circuit to warrant suoport. He was only threequarters of a length behind Golden Glen In fourth place in the Invercargill Gold Cup, but spoilt his chance next time out by pulling and hanging badly. Should Go Well Golden Boa is a light-weight which should go well. At Invercargill on January S she was being hailed as the winner a furlong from home, but went under narrowly to Llanmal and Sometime. It was a good run. and Golden Boa should not be out of her depth. Use has not done a great deal of racing this season, but with a sprint win to her credit at Beaumont two starts back, and a good fourth at Invercargill at her most recent outing, she may hold the top-weight, Flying Trix, in the second leg, the Croydon Handicap.
