INTER-DOMINION Robin Dundee A Heat Favourite

(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) SYDNEY. All eyes will be on the last race when the 1966 Inter-Dominion Championships get under way at Harold Park Raceway, Sydney, tonight and the first and second favourites, Robin Dundee and Scotirra, clash in the third heat of the first qualifying division.

The champion New Zealand mare, Robin Dundee, is trying to become the second horse to win two interDominion Championships, but Scotirra, another mare and the leading New South Wales entry, is only three points longer in the championships betting. Tomorrow night’s heat will tell whether the bookmakers will be rewriting their books. Robin Dundee, to be driven by the leading New Zealand reinsman, M. Holmes, worked only at three-quarter pace unhoppled yesterday but there Is no doubt about her fitness and she will start at short odds. Robin Dundee, off the backmark of 24 yards, will be giving 12 yards to Scotirra and another New Zealander. Garry Dillon, which won the last New Zealand Cup. Scotirra won five races in succession last year at Harold Park, including the Summer Cup, and with trainer J. Leonard's confident forecast that she is back to top form, she will draw a lot of local support. Robin Dundee deadheated with Jay Ar to win the pacing title at Dunedin last year. Australian hopes today are pinned on the South Australian champion, Minuteman, also trying for the elusive double. He scored in Melbourne in 1964, and has attracted a lot of support from punters following recent fine performances in Melbourne. Backmarker, off 24 yards in the second pacers’ heat. Minuteman is a clear favourite to score from New Zealand’s Jacobite, off 12 yards, and the highly fancied New South Wales candidate, Paddy’s Knight, off the front. There has been sound support for the Tasmanian, Chamfer Star, in this heat, following a first-class trial on Thursday. Chamfer Star led all the way in a fast one and a quarter mile workout to

down Minuteman and two first heat fancies, Stormy Bruce (New South Wales) and Dale’s Gift (Victoria). The New Zealander, Tactile, to be driven by his trainer, R. M. Cameron, is likely to start favourite for the first heat, with close competition from Dale’s Gift
