Miscellany
Consul in Paradise. By W. A. R. Wood. Souvenir Press. 169 pp. Illustrated. Mr W. A. R. Wood, C.M.G. C.1.E., has spent sixty-nine years in Siam. He went out from England at the age of eighteen as a student interpreter and rose to be British Consul General in the land of his adoption. This is not a history of Siam (Mr Wood wrote a history in 1926) but a racy account of the people, their habits and attitudes. It is full of reminiscences and anecdotes, a panorama of delightful scenea and human happenings.
