DIRECTOR OF THE UNIVERSITY HEALTH SERVICE Applications are invited from persons holding a medical qualification, registered or registrable in the Australian Capital Territory, for appointment to the full-time position of Director of the University Health Service. The Director, who should be of consultant status, will be required to establish the Health Service, which is regarded by the University as being a most important link in the chain of student welfare activities. The University expects that the Heatlh Service will make a positive contribution to student welfare through health education, health prophylaxis, and evaluation of individual student health problems. The Director will provide consultant advice on health matters to students and their spouses and to staff members. The student body at present totals 3000. The Director will have ancillary staff and some financial provision has been made for part-time professional assistance: he would have the right of limited private practice as a consultant. The salary is £A5200 per annum. There will be provision for study leave. The appointment will be until the age of 65, subject to the possibility of retirement at or after age 60. Superannuation is on the F.S.S.U. pattern, with supplementary benefits, unless the person apopinted is already a contributor to the Commonwealth Superannuation Fund.
