N.Z. BANKERS’ ASSOCIATION

Appointment Of Mr Smillie

WELLINGTON, Feb. 3. Mr R. O. Smillie, who has had banking experience in New Zealand and Australia, has been appointed research director of the New Zealand Bankers’ Association, to succeed Mr J. W. Rowe. The appointment was announced today by the chairman of the New Zealand Bankers’ Association, Mr E. B. Williams. The new director will take up his position on April 1.

Mr Smillie has a master of commerce degree from Otago University and is an associate of the Bankers’ Institute of Australasia.

On leaving Otago Boys’ High School he joined the banking industry and up to 1960 was employed in Dunedin, Wellington and Melbourne. He is married with three children.
