Lamb Again Easier (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 4. Steady trading for reduced supplies of most commodities produced a firmer market on Smithfield Market, London, but continuing pressure by wholesalers to increase sales of New Zealand lamb at all points, especially ex quay, has maintained weakness in quotations, says the Meat Board’s information service. Quotations for the main grade (prime 29/361b) were down a half-penny from last week’s. The market for New Zealand mutton is unchanged from last week. The main grade of wethers (49/561b) was quoted at 14d per lb and ewes at 12} d to 13d per lb. New Zealand beef was not quoted. Mosgiel Wool Issue Plans (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 4. Shares in Mosgiel Woollen’s two-for-five issue of 6} per cent 10s notes at par will be ex rights on February 18, according to the Stock Exchange Association. A meeting will be held on February 17 to authorise the issue of the notes, which will convert to shares on a four-for-five basis on April 1, 1971. Books close on February 11. The issue will lift capital by £145,600.
Wellington Cas.— A final dividend of 4 per cent is being paid by the Wellington Gas Company, Ltd., making a steady 7 per cent for the year. Dividend is payable February 22. Ex dividend February 16. (P.A.)
