Key N.Z. Stocks Give Strength To Market
Key New Zealand stocks gave the market some strength at close of trading yesterday although the tone was steadier and falls outnumbered rises in the overseas list.
Among New Zealand advances Neill Cropper rose 9d to 26s 3d and the notes Is to 24s 3d. N.Z. Newspapers continued to recover and rose Is 3d to 66s 3d, while R. and W. Hellaby added 3d to 50s 9d. Motor Holdings lost most of Thursday’s gain to sell 6d down at 13s lOd.
Only three shares gained ground in the overseas list: C.8.A., Bank of N.S.W. (N.Z.) rights and Waltons. Bank of New South Wales lost 6d to 46s 3d, A.C.I. 3d to 52s and among mining B.H. South fell 2d to 24s 7d and Mount Lyell 3d to 13s 3d.
