Provincial Meetings
Delegates from 31 branches attended the first meeting for 1966 of the Canterbury provincial executive of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. Mrs I. Fraser presided. The inter-provincial conference of provincials and branches from Canterbury, Mid and South Canterbury, Waimate, and Hurunui, will be held at Rangiora on February 22. The host branch will be the Canterbury North Provincial.
Voting delegates from the Canterbury provincial will be Mesdames I. Fraser (president), R. V. Chapman, and W. T. R. Rowe (vice-presi-dents). There will also be three voting delegates from each of 34 branches.
The cookery book compiled by members throughout New Zealand will be issued by Dominion headquarters shortly. A visitor from Washington spoke about the women of India and their customs.
Mrs F. Kolhman, the delegate to the Templeton Chapel Appeal, asked for helpers and goods for a stall at a fete to be held on March 5. The meeting agreed to give its co-operation. « * ❖ The executive of the Canterbury Federation of Country Women’s Institutes held its first meeting for 1966 recently. Mrs G. E. MacLachlan presided. Reports were received on the Save the Children Fund, South-east Asia and Pan Pacific Association, the Federation’s property project, and the National Council of Women. Thanks were received for gifts sent to mothers and babies at St. Helens Hospital. Further fund raising efforts for the Templeton Hospital chapel appeal will be organised. Members were asked to contribute articles for the arts and crafts stall and the sale of work to be held at the Industries Fair.
The Dominion president (Mrs M. Holt) will visit Christchurch in March.
