POTATO SURPLUS
Pay-out About £llO,OOO It is understood that potato growers received about £llO,OOO for surplus potatoes last season under the Potato Board s guaranteed price scheme. About 10,000 tons of potatoes were surplus to market requirements. At the end of November, 1964, funds accumulated out of levies of potatoes totalled £232,110 and in that period receipts from the levy totalled £113,123. It is thought that in the most recent season levies would have exceeded that figure, so that the payout may be more than offset by receipts, including interest on funds invested. The call on the accumulated funds would, however, have been very much greater had not some 11,000 tons of potatoes been exported to Australia last year.
