MOONSHIP AT SEA. —The Vanguard, the United States first tracking ship for the Apollo mooncraft, photographed after completing successfully her initial trials. The vessel is the first of three tankers being converted to floating electronic tracking stations at the Quincy yard of the Electronic Boat division of the General Dynamics Corporation in Massachusetts. The Vanguard and her sister ships will complement land-based tracking stations in the Apollo moon-shot programme planned by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
