Statement Supported

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, February 3.

The chairman of the Citizens’ Association for Racial Equality, Mr H. H. Innes, commenting on the statement by Mr Holyoake, said it would be wholeheartedly supported by the association.

“We endorse entirely the Prime Minister’s statement that it would be a sad thing if political intervention were to take place in New Zealand sport. “It is a decision to be made by the New Zealand Rugby Union and it should not be a decision imposed on them for political purposes.” Mr Innes said that the decision was “obvious.”
