WORKERS STOP
Marsden Pt. Dispute
(N.Z. Press Association)
WHANGAREI, Feb. 3. Labourers at the Marsden Point power station did not resume work this afternoon, after a stoppage this morning over a work instruction issued by the Downer, Wilkins,
Davies construction consortium.
Negotiations between union and company officials are continuing. An agreement with all unions at the start of the project said that no strike or stoppages could be held during construction work, but there have been a number of minor stoppages. Discussions with job delegates and the company took place throughout the morning but no finality was reached. Mr T. E. Skinner, the industrial relations officer for the consortium, said the company could not comment at this stage, and union officials were not available for comment.
