WOOLLEN IMPORTS
Concern In Industry
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Feb. 3.
Delegates to the Dominion Meat and Wool Council of Federated Farmers yesterday expressed deep concern at the possibility that imports of woollen piecegoods may be curtailed in the coming import licensing year. The council passed a resolution “that Federated Farmers urge the Government to retain the quantity of wool piecegoods imports of traditional weights for the 1966-67 licensing year at a level at least equal to the imports of 1965-66. “This action is considered vital by the federation because the final tariff board report on this subject has not yet been brought down and because most other textiles, including many which compete with wool, enjoy licencefree importation.”
