Judith Todd Is Ignored

(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, Feb. 3.

What happened to Miss Judy Todd, the daughter of Mr Garfield Todd, the New Zealand-born former Prime Minister of Southern Rhodesia ? the “Daily Mirror” asked today.

“It seems incredible that it was only last November when the whole world was

talking about her in generally heroic terms. “The ’Daily Worker’—London’s Communist newspaper —even made her its Woman of the Year.” Miss Todd dropped out of her journalism course at America’s Columbia University to stand in for her father at an Edinburgh University teach-in on Rhodesia after he was placed on restriction at his homestead near Salisbury by Mr lan Smith.

"The highly-vocal Miss Todd, teach-in over, decided

to go home to Rhodesia—in spite of her father’s protests and the advice of the Governor Sir Humphrey Gibbs. “She made an impassioned anti-Smith speech on her arrival, was allowed to meet the newspapers and—possibly to her chagrin—ignored by the Smith regime,” the newspaper said. “Judith is now living with her father at Shabani, 200 miles south of Salisbury. She is not even restricted, but all her letters are opened, she says.

"But primarily she is ignored.”
