FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.— A large anti-cyclone centred over the North Tasman Sea covers New Zealand. Forecast:

Canterbury.—Easterlies about the coast and plains, fresh, in the afternoon, but winds otherwise light to moderate and variable: fine and warm. Outlook: fine and warm.

Buller and Westland.—Light to moderate winds, variable at night, but mainly westerly during the day: partly cloudy and mild; a few scattered showers in the ranges. Outlook: scattered showers.

Nelson and Marlborough.—Winds mainly from north and west, fresh at times; fine, with high day temperatures. Outlook: mainly fine and warm. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
