FOUND NOT GUILTY
Wife Refuses To Testify
A formal verdict of not guilty ,on a charge • against Maxwell Carlton Carney, aged 41, a ship’s fireman, of threatening to kill his wife, Miriama Carney, on December 1 was returned by a jury in the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon after Mrs Carney had declined to give evidence against him. Carney pleaded not guilty on arraignment before Mr Justice Wilson, and was represented by Mr B. J. Drake. After Mrs Carney said she did not wish to give evidence, the Crown Prosecutor (Mr C. M. Roper) said that the Crown would call no other witnesses.
Winding-up Order An order for the windingup of Birdworks (N.Z.) Ltd., was made by Mr Justice Wilson in the Supreme Court yesterday on the petition of a creditor, North Avon Service Station, Ltd. (Mr D. J. Clark).
