From The Mayor’s Mouth

(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NTH., Feb. 2. The Mayor of Feilding (Mr V. B. Short) has accepted a challenge from the Mayor of Medicine Hat, Alberta (Mr H. Veiner), to a sheep mouthing contest, when Mr Veiner visits New Zealand later this month. The challenge will involve the mouthing of 100

ewes ranging in age from one to four. The ewes will be mouthed and placed in separate pens, according to their ages on a time basis, with points lost for every animal that is incorrectly classified as to age. The venue for the contest will probably be the Feilding saleyards. Mr Short was a farmer in the Stanway district for many years.
