RACING INQUIRY
Committee Meets (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The committee of inquiry, established by the Racing Conference to, inquire into all matters pertaining to the betterment of racing in New Zealand, met yesterday morning to consider written submissions. The meeting is not open to the press. The secretary (Mr A. M. Mcßeath) said that no statement would be made on the committee’s deliberations or of progress until the sitting ended this afternoon. There was a total of 47 written submissions from 31 totalisator clubs, four district committees, five associations, two non-totalisator clubs, and five individuals. , The committee was not hearing personal representations in support of written submissions at the current meeting, but when such representations were made later, the hearings would be open to the press. Later sittings would be held at Auckland, Hamilton. Christchurch and Dunedin and at any other centres recommended by the committee.
