Although the total number of cases (1948) was 4 per cent below the November figure, fewer returns came in. Thirty-four doctors take part in the survey, and each week | there were between 21 and 29 returns. The doctors reported 446 cases of viral infection. 199 cases of staphylococcal infection. and 446 cases of gastroenteritis. There were 78 cases of chicken-pox, 30 of mumps, 131 of measles, 303 of acute ' tonsilitis, and 149 of inflam- ’ mation of the inner ear.
