Met After 55 Years

Mr H. R. Blair, of Christchurch, met his sister, Mrs R. Childs, of Harrow, Middlesex, at Christchurch airport yesterday for the first time in nearly 55 years. He spotted her instantly as she came off the aircraft. But Mrs Childs was not so sure.

“I was expecting him to look like a newspaper photograph of himself he sent me some years ago. He was not wearing a hat then. He is today and I did not recognise him at first” she said. Mr and Mrs Childs have been visiting a married daughter and her family in Australia, and decided to make a quick trip to New Zealand to see Mr Blair and his family. They will be here for only two days and will then return to Australia. Mr Blair, who is 82 is four [years older than his sister, 'whom he last saw in Scoti land in 1911.
