University Students To Hold Congress

(N.Z. Press Association) BLENHEIM, Jan. 18. Some 160 students from the six New Zealand Universities will come to Curious Cove, in Queen Charlotte Sound, on Friday for the 18th annual New Zealand Universities Students’ Congress. The organisation this year Is in the hands of the Auckland University Students’ As-i sociation. the controller being; Miss Rosslyn Shaw. Lectures by speakers emin-i ent in their various fields, open discussions on a w-ide, variety of topics, and recrea-' tions, sports, or just discus-: sions make up the congress programme. The congress will be for-i mally opened on Friday night: by the chairman. Dr. T. Beaglehole, senior lecturer in history at the Victoria University of Wellington. During next week the speakers will include Mr R. D. Muldoon, Under-Secretary to the Minister of Finance, Mr Bruce Mason, the Wei-

lington playright and actor, Mr Hone Tuwhari, the Maori poet, Mr P. Beaven, a Christchurch architect, and Mr A. Heenan, music organiser for the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation. The overseas visitors will be Professor Burnstock, professor of botany at Melbourne University, and Mr Eugene lonesco, a well-known French plavright of Rumanian origin Other speakers listed are Mr Paul Temni, an Auckland i lawyer. Mr F. Tay, lecturer m economics at Canterbury I University, Mr Colin McCahon, an artist, and Mr R. J. i Tizzard. member of Parliament .for Pakuranga.

Photographs taken of the White Russian refugees when they arrived in Christchurch last year were featured on the front page of the World Council of Churches inter-church aid newsletter. In magazine form, the newsletter is sent to most English speaking countries and it also has a German and a French edition.
