‘Attacked’ With Fertiliser

(N’.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON Jan. 17. Troops engaged on “Exercise Extricate” in the Tangiwai district consider their camouflage a mixed blessing. It conceals them from air attack but it did not prevent them from being liberally dusted with superphosphate from a topdressing aircraft at the week-end. More than 2000 troops of the Ist Infantry Brigade are taking part in the exercise, the aim of which is to test the units involved in a withdrawal from a strong enemy force. Withdrawal is the phase of warfare being studied by the Army this year.
