High Commissioner Sees Improvement
The Australian High Commissioner in New Zealand (Mr D. W. Cameron; told members of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association yesterday that he was in a New Zealand bar recently, drinking with “high shepherds I should say high country shepherds. The men had been veryfrank. They had told him that relations between the two countries had not been as good as they should, but were much better now. “I think this is partly because of the free trade agreement,” said Mr McNichol “and more important, I think it is because both countries realise' our destiny is close. “We are together in Vietnam. We don’t like sacrifices that go with war. We are together, not because we are warmongers. But if obligations come up that demrnd sacrifice, we almost always do 4t together.” Women’s Fishing Record.— A claim for a women’s world record will be made by the I Tauranga Big Game Fishing; Club for a 1251 b tuna, which! was caught on a 301 b breaking straing line by Mrs B. Buchanan, of Tauranga, in Mayor Island waters on Saturday—(P. A.)
