Quiet, Cautious Start To Trading For 1966

Stock exchange trading for 1966 opened quietly and cautiously yesterday. I here were more falls than rises over a narrow range and on the Christchurch Stock Exchange turnover was just slightly more than half of that on the opening dav last year. & ’ 1.C.1. (N.Z.) 10s shares, placed at a 10s premium, quoted for the J es teraay, featured with sales at 20s 3d in Christchurch and w elbngton and 20s 6d in Auckland. Moves by New Zealand issues were narrow. Dominion Breweries lost 2d to 16s lOd and New Zealand Breweries Id to 13s 3d. Sharper moves on pre-vacation prices were made by Australian stocks, but these reflected home market changes while New Zealand exchanges were closed. Ampol rose lOd to 8s 7d and A.C.I. Is 6d to 51s, while Swan fell 5d to 21s 9d and B.H.P. 9d to 435.
