TRAIL OF DAMAGE
Burglary At Hei Hei The thief who entered the garage of a house in Tauiwi crescent, Hei Hei, on Sunday night left a trail of wanton damage. He took two childrens cycles from the garage and a packet of cigarettes from the glove-box of a car in the garage. The Tauiwi crescent resident has a number of goldfish ponds on his property. The thief took goldfish from one pond, rammed them into narrow-necked bottles and threw the bottles into other ponds. Several goldfish died. Across the wire mesh which which covered the ponds were found cigarettes from the stolen packet. They had been broken in half. The incident occurred between 10 p.m. on Sunday and 6.30 a.m. yesterday, when the occupier of the home discovered the wreckage. A wrist-watch was left on the rear doorstep of the house and was found by the occupier. The children’s cycles were found on the roadside a short distance from the house. Detectives will investigate the incident.
