AUCKLAND IN LEAD
Tanner Cup Yachting (N.Z. Press Association) NELSON. Auckland won the first race of the New Zealand “P” class yachting championship for the Tanner Cup at Nelson yesterday. B. Baker, representing Auckland, handled his boat well in a 15-mile-an-hour breeze, and held control throughout after getting a good start. Results. Auckland (B. Baker) 1, Bay of Plenty (I. Williams) 2, Otago (W. Stringer) 3, Nelson (R. Preston) 4, Hawke’s Bay (G. Wiig) 5, Waikato (C. Badger) 6.
