Geyser’s Brief Eruption
(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 16. Less than 24 hours after its spectacular eruption Tokaanu’s geyser gradually diminished and became dormant again on Friday night. After a rest of more than 30 years, the geyser blew a column of muddy water 35 to 40 feet in the air, at 8.20 a.m. on Friday. It continued to play at intervals of about one and a half hours until early on Friday afternoon, when it began to subside. But another hot pool several yards away has become more active than usual.
