QNE of the most notable personal milestones achieved by Plunket Shield cricketers this summer has been that of Auckland’s captain, J. T. Sparling, who has now played more shield matches for his province than anyone else, bowled more overs, and taken more wickets. E. C. Petrie has become the heaviest scorer for Northern Districts. Other Plunket Shield marks are those of M. E. Chapple (3000 runs), B. W. Sinclair (2000), B. F. Hastings, M. J. F. Shrimptor and K. Thomson (each 1000). In all first-class cricket, B. R. Taylor now has an aggregate of 1000 runs, and so have G. P. Bilby, B. G. Hadlee and T. W. Jarvis. N. S. Harford has reached 3000, R. M. Harris 2000, J. C. Alabaster has reached a total of 400 wickets, and R. S. Cunis has completed his first 100 wickets.
