Rakahuri Statistics

Rakahuri, which for many years has been a well-regarded sheep grazing property, is 18 miles from Rangiora on the north side of the Ashley river. When Mr J. D. Gallagher took possession in November, 1960, it was supporting the equivalent of 3000 ewes. This year Mr Gallagher will go into the winter with the equivalent of 4600 ewes, made up as follows: 2500 Romney ewes, 1400 hoggets. 40 rams, 100 Hereford cows. 35 yearling cattle and 80 calves.
