QUEEN’S CORD FOR FIRST LEG TONIGHT

Now that Asia Minor and Harbour Light have dropped out of the field Queen’s Cord might be the hardest to beat in the Ordeal Trotting Free-for-all at Hutt Park Raceway tonight.

Queen’s Cord will be J trying for her second i free-for-all win of the ! season in the first leg 1 of the Wellington ( Trotting Club’s T.A.B. double. The most recent success for : ■ Mrs H J. Hewson’s Ripcord! j mare was in the New Zea-1; land Free-for-all at the New s Zealand Cup meeting in November. Queen’s Cord has made no notable contributions to her record meantime but she raised hopes of early improvement again when she finished third to Asia Minor and Harbour Light in the Stewards | Trotting Free-for-all at Add-; ington Raceway last Monday week. Poupette, a close fourth in that race, and Flying Maiden, j which made ground for fifth,! could again be two of Queen’s' Cord’s strongest rivals. The second leg of the maim double will be the Adios Handicap In this event Buchanan! and Trysail are generally expected to battle it out. There will be an on-course double on the Wrackler and Army Handicaps. Highland Flight and Linkwood Lady might be the successful com-! bination. Although showers are pre- 1 dieted for later today the track is expected to be in | good order.
