Divers Find Torpedo Net

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 14. Navy divers a short way out from North Head, Auckland, today found a tangle of wire rope and cable believed to be the remains of the torpedo net strung across the harbour during World War 11.

It was about 200 yards of heavy cable with the ends fixed to five-ton concrete blocks and masses of two-inch wire rope.

Pieces of the net, thought to have been dismantled after the war, were discovered when the freighter, Tasmania Star, caught her anchor in it earlier this week.
